Introduced Species

The laws in Victoria dictate that we cannot rescue invasive animals but that doesn't mean that any animal which is simply trying to survive in a foreign ecosystem should be treated inhumanely.

HHAR are 100% against the use of poisons, widespread or otherwise, such as sodium monofluoroacetate (1080). The effect of the poison on the targeted and non-targeted animals is horrific.

We are 100% against the use of any type of leg snare or inhumane trapping.

Unfortunately, it is illegal in Victoria to rescue foxes.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live, the people of the nation and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
